A random eBay picture I stole of vintage Enid Blyton books...

Lately it has been a relief to have time to myself.  I might have even gone overboard with how lazy I have been.  I watched the entire 20 episode season of "When a Man Loves a Woman."  Go watch it.  Right now.  It was SO good.  (The end did have some loose ends that weren't really resolved, like...what happens to the guy that doesn't end up with the main girl????) Brandon's mom even watched the entire thing before I did.  She stayed up until 2 a.m. until the whole thing was finished.  HA!  The women in our household are crazy about KDramas, including Brandon's grandma.  :-)

Next on my rambling list....I have been thinking a lot about books lately.  Specifically, childhood books that I used to enjoy.  Enid Blyton, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Dr. Seuss, Roald Dahl, Lucy Maud Montgomery.  ALL OF IT.  I want to have more books.  I was looking online for Enid Blyton books and I felt all nostalgic looking at the same books that my mom let us read that she collected from her childhood.  Unfortunately, to get a vintage Enid Blyton children's book costs about $50.00, maybe even higher.  UGH.  And no they are not in pristine condition either.  But the artwork and covers are  so cute on the old editions compared to the new and revised editions.  Not to mention a lot of the wording, characters, and names have been changed on the new editions to appear more politically correct, so the new versions are not quite what I remember reading before.  I am not opposed to making sure that books are not racist, and other precautions such as this while editing, but they have eliminated some of the best characters just to not outrage some people.  Sick minded individuals have to ruin everything.  For instance, they also had to change the name of one of the characters from "Dick" to "Rick." Oh COME ON!!! I know tons of elderly patients from work who are named Dick.  Get over it!  It saddens me to see that many of my favorite old stories are out of print now.  WHYYYYY???

At this time, poor Brandon has been swamped with school.  We have been taking walks on our favorite little hiking path/trail by our house.  It has been helping us to relax and unwind.  I am not looking forward to fall semester when I have to be in school again, but I am happy to say that I got all A's!!!! Well, I got one A-.  But that is not the end of the world.

OH!!! We are going to Utah this weekend.  Pictures to come.

Last, but not least, I have bought some new clothes online and I can't wait for them to come in the mail.  I generally do not go shopping too much, but I was starting to feel a need for some nice shirts since I usually just lounge around in Hello Kitty T-shirts and the rest of my clothes are just gray and black, and that is no fun.

Have I been rambly enough? hehe.  If not, check out my latest blog crushes on my side bar.  They are excellent!  Just beware that you might be scrolling and reading for quite some time, they are all so addictive.  I am so jealous of a couple of them, since their blogs are so cute and perfect, and mine is...well... definitely not professional by any means.  Hope you enjoy yourself! xoxox

School's Out!!!

YAY!  Thankfully, my school quarter is over.  I finished all my final exams and essays, and am just waiting on my grades.  I hope they are good.  I felt a burden lifted off my shoulders after I was finished with my last test.  It has been a truly wonderful, stress-free weekend.  I came home to a whole bunch of unhealthy but DELICIOUS snacks that Brandon bought for me... Pizza, rosemary olive oil bread, Costco blueberry muffins and banana chocolate muffins, and he had also bought me ice cream and kid cereal that I love.  Man, he is the best.  Also, my new shoes came in the mail.

 Side view...

Front view...

Oh man, they are SOOOO cute!  I don't regret buying them at all.  They are comfortable.  The heel is the perfect height, just enough to make me look taller but definitely does not hurt my feet.  Today I walked around in them for hours and it was nothing.  I didn't even need to break them in.  They are perfectly true to size, and match with EVERYTHING.  They look so incredibly cute even with jeans, as well as with all my dresses.  Speaking of which, I had Brandon take a picture of the outfit I wore today before we ran out the door.

The dress and skinny belt is from Forever 21, the cardigan is from Rue 21, the purse is Coach, the shoes are from Payless, and the mint and silver bracelet is from H&M.

We had a splendid time today.  We actually had breakfast for once in our lives at a buffet, since Brandon was ill yesterday and didn't eat much, so he was ravenous when he woke up.  Turns out I love chicken fried steak and biscuits with white gravy! :-) We also had lots of other food there, but that was my favorite part of the meal.  That and the fresh watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, and pineapple.  Brandon's favorite was this salad with sprouts and this yummy sesame oil dressing.  By the way... I have a few photos for you guys on account of the fact that I was too busy with school to upload them before.

Part 1: Phone pictures from the city I work in as well as at school....

 Summer flowers in full bloom!

This was so beautiful in real life...

There is this rose garden on the library grounds that I couldn't resist taking some pictures.

I really like the color of these ones...

A cool sculpture I have never noticed until now...

Hanging flower baskets!  I want one, but they are too hard to take care of.

This frog made me laugh.  He looks like he is praying.

A cool cat sculpture.  How creative!

Remember the tv show "Friends".... Well, we have a Central Perk in our city too! :P

Forget Me Nots!!... At least I think they are...in the garden at school.  Reminds me of my favorite talk by Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

I find that large piece of artwork at school awesome.  I won't be seeing that for another few months.  *Sigh* I am just enjoying my summer break for now.

Part 2: The trip to Portland that I never showed you pictures of.... Actually I didn't take many pictures.  But we went with a couple friends that invited us.  It was really fun!

This made me laugh...

Our friends, in front of our FAVORITE food cart in the world.  If you ever go to Portland, PLEASE eat 3 bulgogi beef tacos for me.

Me posing in front of this giant dragon in Chinatown.  (I was born in the year of the dragon.)

A yummy ice cream place we went to with very unusual ice cream flavors.

We also paid a visit to the rose gardens.  They weren't in full bloom yet but it was still pretty.  Notice Brandon is wearing his cute panda shirt....

That's all the pictures for now.  Also, a couple more things to look forward to:

1)We will be visiting Utah in a couple weeks to see my family.
2) Brandon and I will be purchasing bicycles!
3) Thanks to school being over I have all kinds of energy to do what I want...
4) I have been watching this KDrama called "When a Man Loves a Woman." I can't wait to see how it plays out.

Anyway, I am glad to be out of school so I can blog more and just be all-around more sane. xoxox

Starting from the Ground Up

As many of you know, I have a huge thing for vintage-inspired fashion.  However, I try not to be too much of a shopaholic because I have so many other priorities these days.  I make it a rule to not buy anything unless I adore it to pieces.  I titled this post "Starting from the Ground Up," because I think one of the first and most important pieces of clothing for any look are the shoes (Get it?  Because they are on the ground.  HA HA!  Ok not funny....*slinks away, rejected*).  I am not one of those women who has a closet full of shoes, and nor will I ever be.  But with the whole vintage-inspired theme, I really wanted to get some classic shoes that will give me that image, be fashionable, and match with practically everything.  I have been loving the look of low-heeled Mary Jane shoes.  They are comfortable and practical for work and definitely give a certain level of lady-like charm.  I searched far and wide for the perfect pair of Mary Janes.  Here are a few of my favorites.

These ones are dainty and pretty, and would match with anything.  They cost $67.46 here.

These ones are very practical but don't look too clunky.  They cost $34.99 here.

I love the neutral color as well as the pretty cut-out of these ones!  They cost $79.99 here.

Did I mention that I have other obligations besides buying shoes these days?  Although the above options were very cute and pretty, I decided to buy these lovely shoes (below) on account of being super inexpensive compared to the others I found:

One in black....

And one in a neutral dark tan.

What really got me was the price.  I ended up paying $41.01 for BOTH of them combined, with free shipping and an awesome discount thanks to good ole retailmenot.  The heel is only 2.5 inches, so definitely the perfect height (To think in high school I was silly enough to wear 6-inch heels sometimes.  EW!)  They had absolute rave reviews, all 5-star!  Everyone said how comfortable they are.  I hope they are a good fit, and I will let you know how that goes.  By the way, I bought them here.  Gracious! Aren't they darling?  I never think of going to Payless generally, since most of their shoes tend to be of a very trendy nature (I like to buy things I will wear forever, not just something that is fashionable for one season).  But I was pleasantly surprised to find these.  I love everything about them down to the round buckle.

Anyway, as for life lately.... I am not gonna lie, things have been waaay too stressful from school because I am the most OCD person alive and hate putting forth tons of effort to receive a B grade or lower UGH!!!! Even an A- makes me squirm a bit.  LOL!  Please wish me luck.

On the other hand, I am so grateful at this time (and always) to have Brandon in my life.  He makes even the most stressful times nice, since he is the BEST to be around.  He constantly spoils me by doing little things I love, and bringing me snacks, and just being an all-around sweetie.  He is a little swamped with school too, but always sets aside small moments in the day to make sure I am happy.

Oh man...my other saving grace has been reading the "Little House" books.  I love Laura Ingalls Wilder.  She is such a captivating author.  Yes, I am aware that "Little House" books are directed at children, but I am every bit as much enjoying her books as a child would. :-)

One more thing... I have discovered that in times of stress I have certain vices:

1) Chocolate!!! Dark Lindt chocolate.  I like the Intense Mint, Black Currant, Intense Orange, and Passion Fruit flavors the best.

2) RJ's raspberry licorice.  UGH!! This stuff KILLS me.  I could eat a pound of it every day.

3) Zevia soda.  In any flavor, but I especially like the ones with caffeine while I am studying.

Hehe... alright it looks like I have gone off and rambled yet again.  LOVE YOU GUYS!  I miss my non-zombie days of blogging whenever I feel like it.  Only a week or two more before I will have my time back to myself.  xoxox
